Protect Your Privacy with the Best Chrome Extension

In today's digital age, protecting your privacy online is more important than ever. With the increasing number of 3rd-party trackers and data breaches, it's crucial to have the right tools to safeguard your personal information. That's where the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials Chrome extension comes in. With a total rating of 4.31 out of 5 based on user reviews, this extension is a game-changer when it comes to online privacy protection.

Why Choose DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials?

With DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, you can take control of your online privacy effortlessly. This powerful Chrome extension offers a range of features designed to keep your data safe from prying eyes.

Seamless Privacy Protection

By installing DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, you'll enjoy seamless privacy protection from most 3rd-party trackers while you search and browse. Say goodbye to targeted ads and unwanted data collection. This extension goes well beyond what popular browsers offer by default, providing you with top-notch tracker blocking technology.

Enhanced Encryption and Email Protection

With DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, you can automatically enforce encryption on the websites you visit, ensuring your data is shielded from Wi-Fi snoopers and network onlookers. Plus, the built-in email protection feature allows you to block most email trackers and hide your existing address, offering an extra layer of security when signing up for online services.

Fingerprinting and Tracking Cookies Protection

DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials helps you escape fingerprinting by blocking companies' attempts to create a unique identifier based on your browser and device settings. It also prevents most 3rd-party cookies from tracking your online activities, giving you peace of mind as you browse from site to site.

Additional Protections Not Available Elsewhere

What sets DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials apart from other privacy extensions is the array of additional protections it offers:

  • Link Tracking Protection: Prevents companies from gathering your browsing history and other information through personal identifiers embedded in the links you click.
  • Chrome's New Tracking Tech Protection: Stops Google from collecting and auctioning off your personal data with their latest advertising trackers and targeting methods.
  • Embedded Social Content Tracking Protection: Blocks embedded Facebook content across the web, preventing them from tracking you through their videos, posts, and comments found on other sites.
  • Google AMP Protection: Forces sites to load content directly from publishers instead of using Google-owned links, which often contain trackers.
  • Signal Your Privacy Preference with Global Privacy Control (GPC): Allows you to express your opt-out rights automatically, informing websites not to sell or share your personal information.

With these comprehensive protections, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials ensures that your online activities remain private and secure.

Make the Most of DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials

To maximize your privacy protection in Chrome, it's recommended to adjust some Chrome settings that are not controllable by extensions. You can follow these steps:

  • Sign out of Chrome and turn off Chrome sign-in.
  • Don't sync your history data with Chrome.

  • Disable "Ad Personalization" in Google Ad Settings.

By combining the power of DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials with these additional settings, you can create a robust privacy shield for your online activities.

Tried it for a year, and I've come to notice that the advertising in my DDG search results has become more and more annoying. Probably aligned to DDG now offering a subscription model. Feels like a sell-out. Uninstalling.

Search settings always have to be preferably set over and over every time you wipe the cache and search history. That's dumb to me. I don't think your browser is as private as y'all say y'all claim to be. I'm gonna stick with GrapheneOS & Tor.

Love it Love It. It is working like a charm.

Installing the extension changed nothing.

Fantastic!! just one problem cannot seem to get duck player working.

Junebucket

Slow but Chrome is slow now so dont know if one or both are causing problem. Everything keeps updating but make things worse, including windows update.........that just gets worse too and causes everything else not to work right! Oy Vay!

Don't like how you can't set it to not control your start page, home page, and search. They need to add more customization options for this.

John Hayles

After installing chrome extension my custom start up page is replaced with Duck Duck Go search page, even though the start up page in settings is still my custom page. I have my own start up page so this makes using this extension a bit of a hassle.

Great App, Great Browser, I would like to have extensions like chrome does but im sure you guys are probably working on it. Keep up the awesome job. Thank you DuckDuckgo

Keith Harty

I loved the privacy features; in fact, I have Duck Duck Go as an extension for my Bing and Firefox browser. The only thing I didnt like is my Gmail and other Google services shortcut in the upper right corner was gone. I had to type gmail in each time I had to check my email!

Garbage. I installed the extension on my Chromebook, and Google remained the default search engine. I went to change it to DDG, and DDG was not an option; just Bing, Yahoo!, and Google. I typed in a search phrase int he toolbar, Google remained the default search engine. I highlighted a word, DDG was not one of the options, just Google. A total waste of time

Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'facebook.json') please fix it

Useless when there is no fireproof button. I keep getting logged out of sites because of this and it's very frustrating! Why does it not have this option like it does on Android!? I know I can save login details using Google Password Manager, but you know that for sites like WhatsApp, that doesn't work!!! The only other way is to list it as an unprotected site, but I don't want it unprotected, I just want to STAY LOGGED IN!!!

I use the DuckDucGo app, and the extension for google and it is great. You don't get tracked, and you can have your own email protection. Also, it is a great browser. I think it is great, but if you really want to use DDG, just install it. Like what Jose Leon said, it tells you it is going to change to the DDG search engine. Go easy on it.

Niko Halink

I only want to use the privacy settings, but with this extension the DuckDuckGo search engine is compulsory, which I don't want to use as it is subpar in my opinion or for my needs, so had to delete :(

SerenityReceiver

Overwrites Standard Search Engine and does not let me change it. I do want to be able to switch and choose.

Jacob Brokes

I'm glad this exists, but it doesn't let you change just SOME features-- you have to ditch Google, when I'd rather just have *extended* privacy. The only way to change it back to Google is by installing another extension, which for some reason you have to do on Windows but not on Chromebooks.

John Studio

Thanks for the privilege privacy using, it protect all web that i am using and even if mistakenly uninstalling it, I still get the search's done. Or tho if people are were giving pass 5 star i composed to rate this duckduckgo more than that. Thank all:

Jesse Jojo Johnson

Stop hijacking my New Tab page. It now loads slowly, and it sucks.

Fabian Montossi

It enforced me to use everything duckduckgo, and even after uninstalling it, I still get the searchs done on DDG, wtfffffffffffffff, so much for privacy, but they invade you in a different way.
